The vocabulary for Workday OfficeConnect overlaps with Workday Adaptive Planning, Workday Financial Management, and Excel. This glossary defines every term as it’s used inside OfficeConnect and links to the canonical guide for each.

A

Access OfficeConnect — A Workday security permission that grants a user the right to sign in to OfficeConnect. Set in the user’s permission set in Workday. See Set Up Workday SSO.

Account — In Adaptive Planning, an item like Salaries or Total Revenue that holds a value. Appears in the Accounts node of the Reporting pane. In the Financials data source, equivalent to a Ledger Account. See Add Elements.

Account

Adaptive Planning: A line item that holds a value, such as Salaries, Travel, or Total Revenue. Accounts form a hierarchy — leaf accounts hold values, rollup accounts sum their children.

Workday ships OfficeConnect alongside Adaptive Planning releases on a roughly six-month cadence (R1 in spring, R2 in fall). Each release ships a new OfficeConnect client, and the older client is blocked at sign-in after a grace period.

Forced-upgrade grace periods

Each release has a grace period during which the prior client can still sign in. After the grace ends, the older client is blocked.
